It actually took me a while to finally find the throttle nub on the Razer Artemis. I have looked at it a few times over the last week and finally went back to look at a picture tonight asking myself, "How could they have not included a throttle on a MechWarrior-specific controller?..."

And there it was, nubbing at me.

It's a little easier to see in the line art version...

At first I was like, "eh? Tiny throttle nub, how I loathe you." But then I realized it will free 4 fingers to manipulate the 12 buttons pretty easily. The only way I've ever been able to use 12 buttons on a big *** full hand throttle was with hat switches, and a lot of confusion. But this is arrayed pretty cleanly, and it looks like perhaps the thumb button will be reverse, which would be really handy.

Now I think I'm sold on the design. For all that it includes I would easily drop $200 on it. And, if they make the center screen a touch screen MFD, I'd go even higher.

I'm really itching to get in a firefight with the force feedback. Now if they'd only release it...

What do you guys think? How much is it worth to you, or are you not interested in using it because of the lack of massive throttle power giant handedness?

I already have a decent Joystick, and while the Artemis is a fine piece of equipment, I don't have 200 greenbacks, nor would I spend that much on a Joystick.

It's cool, but alas I use my computer for a lot of things and I'm pressed for real estate in here. I'd have it if I had more space...and if I wasn't poor...

If I had another 200$ to drop I'd just spend it on a new monitor instead of that thing. I'd love to have that thing but I'm not rich, and I doubt very many others are. If this game turns out to be the best thing ever and I still love it to death come 2013 then maybe I can look into that fancy piece of equipment.(Also maybe when the price drops some?) But until then 120$ is already a really steep investment.

I'll probably drop some money on it simply because I think it'll be badass and I don't currently have any other joystick, though I'll be hoping it's a little less than two bennies, I imagine I'd drop another buck twenty on it though

I'd like it even better if it wasn't green.

Well, I wouldn't classify a $200 as only for the rich. But if you work for a living and have a fun-money allocation it wouldn't be hard to save up for, but only if it's important to you. As a disclaimer, this doesn't necessarily apply to parents, lol.

I'm actually planning on selling my Steel Battalion rig to afford it. From one big *** mech controller to another....

Real estate is another consideration... I wonder how the wife is gonna like me having another big *** controller that doesn't sit in a box in storage? =)

And I really don't see them releasing for under $200... with a big *** screen, two hands of controls, and force feedback I bet they're going to retail $200-$300.

I already went way overboard with my founders pack....$120 on a F2P game...so there's no way I'm spending any more, regardless of how *******' it is.

if I was gonna bread out like that might as well go balls to the wall and get the warthog hotas. I think Ill replace my trusty trusty MS sidewinder precision pro for a thrustmaster two piece with dedicated throttle. I love that joystick but I need more functionailty out of my left hand. time for some rudder pedals too.

I personally prefer twisting the joystick over pedals for torso twisting.

And yeah... I forgot. If the joystick doesn't twist, I will definitely not buy one. But I can't see them leaving that out since it's built around MechWarrior. If they do... then lol.

I have a Saitek ST290Pro, HAT, six fire buttons, throttle and twist. Great functionality but I may go with the Razer Artemis also (I like that screen in the middle).

Now if there was a way to pull the in-game GUI apart I would buy a small seven inch touch screen, pull the Radar and place buttons on screen for your Passive/Active radar switching.

Another nice little addon would be pedals for torso twisting... may still do something like that anyway.

They'll have my attention if the screen can act as a normal secondary monitor outside the game.

While I see the benefits you mentioned, particularly the majority of your left hand remaining F2P, I prefer a full-sized throttle as it's useful for more than MWO. I just recv'd my CH Fighterstick and Pro Throttle. Together we will take over.... something. Still deciding....

I might map it to throttle or something idk how Ill set it up or how it can be set up. as it sits right now I can do torso twist from a toggle bumper in the throttle of the thrustmaster hotas. my ms pp had the torso twist in the stick itself. its starting to lose some of its tracking ability and dirfting right hence my sad decision to change. really screwed me up on realistic setting in IL2 I couldnt stay in the air just tail spin to death :P

That looks really impressive, but between my mouse and Belkin speed pad I'll be just find. I'll use the mouse wheel for throttle. If I really get the urge for a joystick I have Saitek ST290 Pro which of course comes with a throttle. I'm stil wondering how much sushi and saki I could enjoy with that $120. So no super duper Razer Artemis for me kind sir.

Thrustmaster has an A10 HOTAS that is over $350. It has "Hall" sensors. I own one. If they can convince me that for $200 I can pull this down and rock and have a real honest to God MFD, I am all over it. If not, I will configure the A-10 HOTAS, and keyboard and mouse to play.

Interested on everyone else's opinions.

I may have gone on a whim with this game when I bought a Founders pack, but I will NOT do it with a Razor product. I'm definitely going to wait for reviews and see how many DOA's are sent out before going crazy and pre-ordering it. If, as said before, this game happens to be all that it's hyped up to be, AND the Artemis ends up being a very reliable and amazing gaming tool, then I'll definitely dish out a bit for one, but I use razor mouses, and I know how they can screw up after only a short period of time.

unfortunately reliability an asian produced electronics do not go hand in hand. I wish I could justify purchasing that a10 hotas. its so sick.
